Put peer review out of its misery, ASAP
Dave Taht shared this great piece with me. The Rise and Fall of Peer Review. It needs to be shared widely.
50 years after my bachelor’s degree now, I’ve looked at peer review from all sides, and I completely agree. There’s no fix.
I publish (make public) my work using the tools built on the open Internet. I think that’s the answer. It’s simple, my site here is cheap, permanent, and under my control. I own the copyright and can grant limited use rights. I don’t feel obligated to host comments of others – but anyone can comment on anything I publish here, if they link here. (not hosting comments is a policy for a number of ethical, moral, and political reasons I describe elsewhere on the Deep Plum Research site.)
